Goodies with Grandparents

I want to thank all the grandparents for coming to have breakfast with our sweet kindergarteners. Here are a few photos from "Goodies with Grandparents!"

Here are a few pictures of our math stations.  The students are learning to work together by sharing and problem solving. 

Also in math, we are learning how to represent numbers in multiple ways. You can help at home by having your child show you numbers in different ways.

       *Social Studies: focus on making good choices at school
       *Math: identifying numbers in the world around us
       *Reading: parts of a book - front cover, back cover, spine, title


You can help at home by practicing sight words, looking for numbers, reading with your child, and discussing good choices while at school.

I am so excited to start a new year with our new friends!!  I hope you have all had a wonderful summer! 

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

The kindergarten students made and flew kites last week to finish up our weather unit. We thought we would get rained out, but we were very fortunate to experiment with our hand-made kites. 

I love the picture above.  It really captures the flight!

We used a YouTube video as a tutorial to make a kite!  The students had a lot of fun!

  We are using this book as our Mentor Text for writing our own books about the Muscovy Duck Eggs.

Ducks! Ducks! Ducks!

Our kindergarten class has taken on the task of "Mother Duck!"  We are in the process of learning about the life cycle if Muscovy Ducks. We received our eggs and began our incubation journey last Wednesday, April 16th. 

Here is our "Mother Duck" for the day, Shiann!

The "Mother Ducks" turn the eggs twice a day. The students are loving the responsibility and being involved in such an awesome experience!
